Reason # 2 I love my Silverado....The buying experience

I've bought a few cars in my lifetime, and I hated buying every one of them until I started shopping at Sweeney Chevrolet. I knew that I wanted a Silverado, but that's about it. My salesman was going to be in for a good time, that's for sure. I walked into the dealership, about 2 hours before they were supposed to close and started looking at the Silverado that was actually in the showroom. Staring in awe, while I tried to figure out what to do he asked me if there was anything he could help me with. "Well, I want to buy a Silverado...but that's about it". I thought that the salesman would do the typical "I don't have all day to help you, but here's my card" attitude I'd gotten at the other dealerships I'd gone to, but surprisingly he politely said "We can help you with that...no problem". He showed me around the dealership, offered me a drink, then took me outside to show me this giant selection of Silverados. This was a little overwhelming until he started helping me narrow down my options by asking me questions like "what color do you want?", "What features do you absolutely have to have", etc. Within half an hour of going outside to look at the trucks, I was test driving a blue granite metallic Silverado 1500. After driving it for about 10 or 15 minutes, I knew this was the right truck for me. It had all the features I wanted, in the color I wanted, and because it was truck month for Chevy, I got an incredible deal on it. Getting back to the dealership with about 20 minutes left until they closed, I expected to be told to come back tomorrow, but instead we sat down and started filling out the paperwork for the loan. Their used car manager went out and appraised my other truck, and after a few minutes of waiting to hear back, I was walking into the Business Manager's office to talk to him about my options regarding financing. My Sales Consultant, a Sales Manager, a Business Manager and the Delivery Coordinator stayed after closing just so that I could drive home in my new truck that night. I even left with a full tank of gas.

The way that I was treated when I was truck shopping is just another reason that I love my truck.

Reason #1 I love my Silverado: Towing

Welcome to the first post of Why I Love My Truck. Almost everyday someone asks me "Chris, why do you love your Silverado so much?", so finally I decided that I was going to start a blog about it. When I first bought my Silverado from Sweeney Chevrolet back in the fall I was just going to use it for hunting and fishing. I changed my mind real quick when I found out all the cool stuff I could do with it.

I was sitting around with my brother Cory a few weeks ago and I told him about my idea and he loved it. In fact, he loved it so much that he asked me if he could be a contributor to the blog so he could talk about his Sierra that he bought at about the same time. He bought his Sierra from Sweeney Buick GMC.

Some days you'll see posts from me, some days you'll see posts from him. I guess that just depends on who has the time to post. If you have questions (like how it would work on my truck compared to his, or vice versa) or you want to give your feedback leave us a comment and we'll get back to you! So without further ado, here's reason #1 I love my Silverado: Towing

Like I mentioned before, when I first got the Silverado I bought it to indulge my outdoorsy side. I was sitting at work one day and my mom called me to ask me if I'd haul my nephew's trailer to a dirt bike race for him since I was one of the only member of my family that had a truck other than my aunt and uncle. I told her I'd have to see if I was even capable of towing something, and get back to her. I actually forgot that I'd opted for the towing package when I bought it, since it cost me so little. I gave her a call and told her I could do it, without realizing that I've never towed anything before. Luckily for me, the Silverado did all the work for me. All I had to do was connect the trailer, click the button on my gear shifter for towing mode. See, the Silverado comes with Towing Mode, that when engaged automatically adjusts the shifting schedule of the truck to make it easy. Not to mention, the Silverado also comes with Cruse Grade Braking, which makes it easier to stop when you're pulling heavy loads. Literally all I had to do was make sure I kept the trailer between the lines on the highway, click a button on my gear shifter and just drive like normal. That's how easy the Silverado made it. Once I found out that I could tow, it was all downhill...and uphill for that matter. I tow everything for people now, from RVs to trailers, I even hauled a horse trailer for my neighbor when his truck was in the shop (check out the picture below). With a towing capacity of 10,700 lbs...there's not much I can't tow.

And that's just one reason...that I love my truck.
